Travel to the Area
Chihuatlan, Jaluco, Barra de Navidad, Villa Obregon, San Patricio, Melaque, Emiliano Zapata, La Manzanilla, Rebalsito & Tenacatita:
There are two local bus lines that operate seven days a week, 365 days of the year from about 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and serve the communities listed above; the larger Cihuatlan bus line that serves all of the listed communities and the smaller Urbanos line that doesn't.

Cihuatlan Buses:

Run direct routes along the highways and main streets.

Time between Barra and Melaque is 10 - 15 minutes.

The Local Urbanos offer a scenic tour on a meandering route through the streets of the towns. If you've got time to spare, take this line at least once to get in a bit of sightseeing.

Time between Barra and Melaque is 25 - 35 minutes.
Recognize the Cihuatlan Bus Line:
This line sports larger pure white, white and green or white and purple buses that travel regularly between Emiliano Zapata (Ranchito), Melaque, Jaluco, Barra de Navidad and Cihuatlan. They also operate five schedules per day from Barra and Melaque to La Manzanilla and back, and one per day from Rebalsito, about 3 km from Tenacatita.
Schedule Cihuatlan Line

Cihuatlan to Barra, Melaque, Ranchito return, depart Cihuatlan terminal every 15 to 25 minutes between 06:30 and 20:30.

Cihuatlan to Barra, Melaque, La Manzanilla and return, depart Barra bus station 07:30, 09:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, Melaque departures add 10 minutes. Return departures from La Manzanilla Jardin at 08:30, 10:30, 13:30, 15:30 and 17:30.

El Rebalsito/Tenacatita to Barra, Melaque and Cihuatlan return, departs El Rebalsito at 07:00 return from Barra and Melaque around 17:00.

By Bus (Local)
Recognize the Local Urbanos:
This line is made up of smaller buses painted orange and white. These buses travel regularly between Barra de Navidad, Jaluco, Villa Obregon, San Patricio, Melaque and Emiliano Zapata (Ranchito). One may also transfer in Barra for a bus that runs from the Centro along the main street of the Barrio, down past the high school and back.

It's hard to pin down an actual schedule, if you are in a hurry, take a taxi. These buses run about every 15 to 25 minutes or so along their designated routes from about 06:30 to about 20:30. You can flag them with a raised arm and they will stop pretty much anywhere. The final destination will be posted in the window. The route is either Barra de Navidad, Jaluco, Villa Obregon, San Patricio, Melaque, Ranchito and return or Barra Centro to Barra Barrio Nuevo out past the Secondary School and return.

Around Barra, Melaque and Ranchito adult fare is 3.5 pesos for Urbanos and 4 for the Cihuatlan line.

Between Barra or Melaque and Cihuatlan. $8 pesos.

Between Barra or Melaque and La Manzanilla. TBD

Between Barra or Melaque and El Rebalsito/Tenacatita. TBD.
Manzanillo Urbanos
These buses are plentiful and make it very easy to get around in Manzanillo. It's 4 pesos to go almost anywhere and most buses run up and down the main street that links Santiago, Salagua and Manzanillo Centro. Well known destinations such as Miramar, Commercial, Soriana, Centro are marked in the front window of the bus and if you know your destination but don't see it you can always call it out to the driver and he will say either "si" or "no". Some go to the main bus station, the 'Central Camionera', the terminus for buses from Barra and Melaque, but it's easier to jump off at a high traffic stop and pick up an Urbano there.
