Tequesquitlán
Tequesquitlán is a quaint colonial village of approximately 1,700 inhabitants located 32km from Barra de Navidad and about 30km from Cihuatlan at the end of two dirt roads about 2,600 feet above sea level.
Nestled in a wide mountain valley the area is lovely boasting natural streams, woodland and cultivated fields. The town of Tequesquitlan is surrounded by Tamarindo orchards and sugar cane fields with a scattering of cattle ranches here and there. There is a plant in town where the Tamarind is processed for shipment to national and international markets.
Tequesquitlán is part of the municipio of Cuautitlán de García Barragán located 12km away.  Tequesquitlan hold their annual Rodeo around January 12 each year and often feature well known Mariachi bands like Mariachi Vargas that one would not expect to find in such a small place. There is no hotel in Tequesquitlan but there are two small restaurants.
