Cinco Playas Tenacatita Bay
Tour time: 5-8 hours
Riding Time: 3-4 hours
This tour is suitable for those who want a relaxing day with three to four hours of bike riding and time to enjoy five beautiful tropical beaches.

Mountain Bike tours depart from Barra de Navidad, 1 hour north of Manzanillo and 10 minutes from Melaque by bus. The Manzanillo and Melaque buses stop in Barra de Navidad 1 block from our office. Get off the bus and walk towards the centre of Barra on Avenida Veracruz, the main street the bus stations are on. We are located one block down, at 204 Veracruz, next to the Cristal ice factory, directly across from the town square (Jardin) and catty corner from the ATM.

The Cinco Playas Tenacatita mountian bike tour starts between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Please arrive at the office about 1/2 an hour early so we can get you outfitted with a bike and helmet.

Mexican transportation law forbids us transporting tourists in our support vehicle on city or federal roadways. Therefore, we travel by taxi or bus from our starting point in Barra de Navidad to La Manzanilla, which is located 15km from the Barra de Navidad and Melaque area and approximately 75km from Manzanillo, Colima. We travel by taxi back from Tenacatita to Barra at the end of the tour. While there is a support vehicle on parts of this tour it is not able to follow the bikes along the entire route.

Difficulty: moderate to challenging
When we arrive in La Manzanilla we mount the bikes and take some time to explore this beautiful and tranquil fishing village on Bahia Tenacatita. Our visit would not be complete without a stop to view the famous Crocodiles in the lagoon.
Then we're off by bike to Boca de Iguanas, a nice easy ride along the ocean with a fresh breeze to keep us cool. We can stop for refreshment in Boca de Iguanas and see what their resident Crocodiles are up to as well.
Leaving Boca, we head away from the beach and over to Tenacatita along trails through jungle, farmland and around the back of the Tenacatita Lagoon. By mountain bike on back roads our route is fairly direct and it's only about 8km through mostly flat terrain to El Rebalsito. From there it's another 3km to Tenacatita beach along the secondary paved road. Or if you still have plenty of energy from El Rebalsito we can take dirt roads and trails to El Tecuan beach and lagoon and from there make our way to Tenacatita beach along a beach trail that runs between the two.
The Tenacatita area is truly a paradise with very little commercial development. It boasts a 4km sparkling golden sand beach with gentle waves that are perfect for either body surfing or swimming. There is also a coral reef at Playa Mora that makes for great diving or snorkelling. The beach is lined with restaurants offering the very freshest seafood as well as cold beverages. The many dirt and sand trails along the beach and around the lagoon and river offer great off-road cycling with opportunities to view local wildlife. You can also take a Jungle River Tour with the local fishermen.
