Sea to Sierra Outdoor Adventure Tours Mexico, Colonial Sierra Villages to the Sea Mountain Bike Tour. From Barra de Navidad, approximately 30 minutes from Manzanillo, Colima, to la Huerta, Cuautitlan and Tequesquitlan all in Jalisco in the Costa Alegre region of Pacific Mexico and return.

Total trip time is 2 days, how many hours a day is up to you, this tour is support vehicle assisted but is only recommended for fit and healthy riders.

Tour departs from Barra de Navidad, 1 hour north of Manzanillo by bus. The bus from Manzanillo stops in Barra 1 block from us.

We start out in the morning riding from Barra de Navidad to Cihuatlán through quiet back roads, there is one gradual 2km climb on this leg of the trip. Once we arrive in Cihuatltán we start a severe climb from about 500 to 2500ft either on mountain bike or using the support vehicle that will be with you for the entire tour.

Once you've climbed to about 2,500ft there is more gradual climbing while riding through rolling countryside and woodlands to reach the quaint villages of Tequesquitlán and Cuautitlán at about 3,100ft.

The total distance we ride today is 36km. We can also drive from Barra to Cihuatlán and start the ride there in which case it will total about 24km.

We'll spend the night in the little farming and ranching town of Cuautitlán and if we don’t arrive too late in the day we will have time to take a side trip and visit the over 100 year-old Organic Shade Grown Coffee plantation in the semi indigenous village of Cuzalapa. In the evening we take some time to explore Cuautitlán visiting the beautiful, over 200-year-old, stone church and meeting local people in the jardin.

We leave Cuautitlán after breakfast and arrive in Tequesquitlan about noon and after exploring have lunch before heading off to the coast. Today's ride is 44km.

Between Cuautitlan and the coast the scenery is varied as we pass through pasture, mango and coconut plantations, tropical jungle, fields cultivated with agave (used in the production of Tequila), canja (sugar cane) and tamarindo. There is a spectacular view of the Barra de Navidad / Melaque area, The Grand Bay Hotel and the Pacific Ocean from the top of the last ridge on way down.
