Tour time: 2-3 hours
|
This tour is suitable for those who want a relaxing, mountain bike ride around the Barra de Navidad and Jaluco area on the flat back roads and quiet streets and then explore a dirt road through the woods to the secluded beach behind Ranchito. Some climbing is involved to and from the beach.
Mountain Bike tours depart from Barra de Navidad, 1 hour north of Manzanillo and 10 minutes from Melaque by bus. The Manzanillo and Melaque buses stop in Barra de Navidad 1 block from our office. Get off the bus and walk towards the centre of Barra on Avenida Veracruz, the main street the bus stations are on. We are located one block down, at 204 Veracruz, next to the Cristal ice factory, directly across from the town square (Jardin) and catty corner from the ATM.
The Plantations and Secluded Playa mountain bike tour starts between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Please arrive about 1/2 an hour early so we can get you outfitted with a bike and helmet.

| Starting from Barra de Navidad we bike ride around the town, including the Malecon at the beach before leaving Barra for Jaluco and then Ranchito along shady back roads. The roads to Ranchito are completely flat but we head straight there to beat the heat before mountain biking on the very short steep climb at the start of the 6km dirt road that winds through the woods and ends up at a secluded beach on Cuastecomate Bay behind Ranchito. There is some good but rough single track off of this road that those comfortable with mountain biking can explore as well. |
| From the beach you can see Cuastecomates but it's only accessible by water or an Extreme Trail Adventure from the beach at Ranchito. It's a gradual, climb on our light mountain bikes all the way back from the beach to Ranchito. We then cycle back to Barra along a different route and pay a visit to a brick-works where they make the bricks used in construction in the area. We pass by farms and orchards where chiles, tomatoes, coconuts, tamarindo, papayo, bananas, and mangos are grown. |
|
Your English speaking locan Mexican guide will be happy to explain farming and orchard methods used in the area.
|
| We return by bike to Sea to Sierra Outdoor Adventures in Barra de Navidad or we can let you off at Rancho Aurora Water Park on the connector road between Barra and Highway 200. Buses to Barra de Navidad, Melaque and Manzanillo pass by Rancho Aurora all day and into the evening. |
