A testimonial for the Bikes, Beers and Botanas Tour from the tomzap site 03-13-05.

"My husband and I went on the Bikes, Beers, and Botanas trip with Nan and Pelos in February. It was fun to go to out-of-the way places. We were surprised how much good food and beer we were served at each stop. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and learn more about the area from people who live there."

Bikes, Beers and Botanas
Tour time: 4-6 hours
Actual riding: 2 hours in 5 segments
All we recommend for this tour is a good liver and a sense of balance.

While the places we visit are "Familiar" they are also predominantly drinking establishments so we recommend one of our other tours for families.

Mountain Bike tours depart from Barra de Navidad, 1 hour north of Manzanillo and 10 minutes from Melaque by bus. The Manzanillo and Melaque buses stop in Barra de Navidad 1 block from our office. Get off the bus and walk towards the centre of Barra on Avenida Veracruz, the main street the bus stations are on. We are located one block down, at 204 Veracruz, next to the Cristal ice factory, directly across from the town square (Jardin) and catty corner from the ATM.

The Bikes, Beers and Botanas bike tour starts about 1:30 pm but please arrive about 1/2 an hour early so we can get you outfitted with a bike and helmet.

A Mexican style Pub Crawl, any day except Monday and Tuesday. Join us any afternoon except Monday and Tuesday and we'll ride bikes on the brechas (dirt roads) from Barra de Navidad to Jaluco and back, drinking two beers and sampling botanas (snacks), at each of the four places we visit. But be careful or you could become borracho (drunk.) Botanas are little snacks traditionally served with a cold beer in a restaurant or botanero. The last stop on the tour serves more of a meal of botanas than a snack though so leave some room.
While some Botaneros are known for other things as well as food and drink we stick to the "Familiar" type botanaros on this tour and leave the XXX for you to discover on your own. After visiting three other botanaros we finish up at the Lobo in Barra de Navidad. When we are finished at Lobo; we return by bike five blocks to Sea to Sierra Headquarters in Barra de Navidad, or you can stay on at the Lobo and enjoy the entertainment or move on to the Sands Hotel pool bar next door and we'll get your bike back to Sea to Sierra.
