| Nevado de Colima, Inactive "Snow" Volcano Tour |
| Join us on a full day tour from Barra de Navidad and Melaque into the Parque Nacional del Nevado de Colima where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the beautiful forest, pasture and alpine terrains of this marvelous national park. Situated on top of one of the oldest volcanoes in the world the park also provides the best and closest view possible - without a helecopter - of the summit of Colima's Volcan de Fuego, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
| We leave Barra de Navidad – one hour north of Manzanillo Colima and 10 minutes south of Melaque by vehicle, between 5:30 and 6:00 am. Following highway 200 as far as Tecoman we then turn away from the sea and take highway 54 almost to Ciudad Guzman in Jalisco state. There at the turn off for the National Park we begin our trek up the mountain - still by vehicle at this point - to almost the 4000 meter point. |
| We make two scheduled stops on the way up, one about 3/4 of the way where we can stop and stretch our legs and have a rest room break and a nice cup of hot tea or coffee as we adjust a bit to the higher altitue. The next scheduled stop is at the top parking lot where we leave our vehicle before we commence the up hill walk on foot to the observation centre - and then if you wish and weather permitting - on to the summit of the snow volcano. On the way back there will be plenty of time to stop along the way so you can take photos of the view of the valleys far below the road, and so that we can cool the brakes on our vehicle. |

| Day Trips |
| On our roughly 45 minute walk from the top parking lot to the observation centre on the inactive snow volcano where scientists monitor and study the active Volcan del Fuego we will be walking steadily up hill along a dirt road. Due to the high elevation and lower than normal levels of oxygen in the air we need to take this walk very slowly and steadily which isn't difficult while drinking in the high mountain scenery made up of pines, grasses and high mountain wild flowers. |
| Reaching the 4000 meter marker just below the observation centre you will be astounded at how close the active fire volcano is from where you are standing. You can remain at this point, hike up roughly 20 more meters to the observation centre or your guide can lead you on a path that takes you to the summit of the snow volcano. One does not need to be an experienced mountaineer to hike to the 4000 meter level, the terrain is not rough and the dirt road is well maintained. However one must be in very good physical condition to make it to the 4000 meter point and it is best to see how the altitude affects you before you decide if you want to go on to the summit. |

Trip includes transportation from Barra, Melaque or Manzanillo, water and soft drinks, coffee and snack and a full picnic lunch with two beverages.
