Spend the night - or two or three - at Rancho Cuixmala located just south of beautiful Careyes. Nestled on the banks of the Cuixmala river Rancho Cuixmala offers clean, comfortable accomodation in Casa Azul as well as opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding on the unspoilt grounds. Cuixmala - a working ranch with a rich history - has been owned and operated for generations by your hosts the Gargollo family. Here papaya, mangos, lettuce and other vegetables are grown organically for market and organic dairy and beef cattle are also raised. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the splendor of this natural place while observing and if you choose participating in the daily operations of the ranch.

| Rancho Cuixmala is accessable from Barra de Navidad, Melaque, Puerto Vallarta, La Manzanilla, Manzanillo and other points from Mexican highway 200. We offer this tour with chauffered transportation, we can arrange a car rental, or you can choose to take a bus. Something for every budget. The bus will let you off in Emiliano Zapata the little town closest to Rancho Cuixmala and we can arrange transportation to the Rancho from there. It's convenient to have a car for your use while visiting the rancho if you want to visit Careyitos beach a couple of km up the highway or go for lunch or dinner in Emiliano Zapata or Careyes so the car rental option is nice and the drive is easy. Our chauffered transporation option includes transportation to and from the Rancho only. |

| Casa Azul, the guest house at Rancho Cuixmala, is located near the family's residence yet far enough away to offer privacy. Refurbished in the fall of 2006 Casa Azul is bright, clean and in good repair. There are three bedrooms available to guests each with private bathroom and king or two twin beds with an optional cot available. The shared area consists of the living room, dining room, full kitchen and a brick patio with a barbecue. If the entire house is booked by one group the sofas in the living room convert to single beds to sleep two more. |

| Included in your stay at Casa Azul are your room, full use of the common areas of Casa Azul, access to the hiking trails and other areas of the Ranch, use of the Ranch's cruiser (no gears) bicycles and a full breakfast with the Gargollo family. Things you should bring with you include; beverages, food if you want to cook or BBQ, books, walking shoes, mosqito repellent, your camera and binoculars if you are interested in birding. |

Activities available for an additional fee include; horseback riding on the ranch or along the beach at Careyes or a mountain bike tour along Rio Cuixmala up to the Village of Limon in the hills. The rancho is an excellent site for birdwatching and while you are welcome to go birding on your own we can arrange for a birding tour with an experienced local guide.
