Horseback Riding Isla Navidad and Playa de Cocos |
| This three to three and a half hour horse riding tour is popular with many of our more experienced riders but is also suitable for anyone who wants a longer ride, doesn't mind a bit of dismounting and mounting for gates - there are five - and wants to finish up with a gallop or a canter on a nice flat beach. One thing to note this is the only of our horse tours that runs for any distance on a paved road with vehicle traffic. We use the shoulder of the paved secondary highway to Isla Navidad for a very short distance (about 3/4 of a mile) to facilitate using a very short bridge over an irrigation canal. If you are at all nervous about this we invite you to book another of our rides that does not involve riding on the shoulder of any paved roads where there may be vehicle traffic. |

Isla Navidad and Playa de Cocos Tour Price and Details |
On this trip you will ride from Aguacate on highway 200 north of Manzanillo and near Barra de Navidad and Melaque to Playa de Cocos a beautiful flat beach on the open ocean. The ride takes you along Arroyo Seco - a dry river bed between banks of tall shady trees - around the back of laguna de Navidad and over to Playa de Cocos on the penninsula between Laguna Navidad and the ocean known as "Isla Navidad" where you can ride on the flat hard packed beach. Scenery varies from jungle to grassland and brush on the route to the beach. Arroyo Seco and the area at the back of Laguna Navidad are natural havens for a wide variety of bird life so this tour provides a marvelous opportunity for bird watching from horseback. Note: If your interest runs to birding it's best to leave on this tour at first light.
