Horseback Riding Tours
Sea to Sierra Outdoor Adventures have teamed up with two local Aguacate cousins, experienced horesmen Ariel and Horacio, plus several well fed, well cared for and well trained yet spirited horses to offer you the very best ecologically friendly and informative adventure tours on horseback in the Costalegre and Manzanillo region.
Our horse tours are not a boring plod along the beach or down country roads. Our well trained, responsive yet spirited horses love to get out of the paddock and go for an interesting and fun ride through the local communities, countrside, and the hills in the Barra de Navidad, Isla Navidad, Melaque and La Manzanilla area.
We do everything in our power to make your ride as comfortable as possible including lengthening and shortening the stirrups and choosing a mount that is suited to your experience and capabilities. We want you to have fun on your ride.
We meet for all horse tours at the Sea to Sierra office, Avenida Veracruz 204 in Barra de Navidad. Across the street from the town square, katty corner from the ATM and a block from the bus stations. Barra de Navidad is about 1 hour north of Manzanillo by car or by bus and about 10 minutes from Melaque.
Horseback Plantation Tour
Our most popular horseback riding tour! Join us on a two or two-and-a-half-hour horseback riding tour around the plantations and marshlands behind Aguacate and Jaluco, two little farming and ranching towns behind Barra de Navidad and Melaque in the Costalegre. We will ride through and around plantations of coconut, banana, mango tamarindo and aguacate, fields of tomatoes, chilli, papaya and pastures for goats, sheep and cattle. There are small local stores where we can stop off for refreshment if you'd like to. Many area farmers and ranchers still travel to their fields and back daily on horseback or move their livestock from horseback so this tour is a great way to see the local countryside and experience close up an average day in Mexico for many people who live here.
Cost $500 pesos per person for two hours or $600 pesos per person for two-and-a-half-hours. Reservations required 24 hours in advance of tour. Click here for photos.
