Boat Tours and Cruises
We board a panga at the Fisherman's Co-operative located next to the malecon in Barra de Navidad at the start of our two and a half-hour Sunset cruise tour. If the tour is by panga we leave directly from there, if the tour is on our 42' or 38' ocean cruisers the panga takes us to the marina at Isla Navidad where we moor the boats. All sunset cruises start one hour prior to sunset so departure time varies depending on the time of the sunset.
There are three vessel options for the sunset cruises. Prices and passenger capacity vary by craft enabiling you to choose the boat that best suits your requirements based on budget and the size of your group.
42' Chris Craft Cruiser: Sea Hawk is a fully equiped cruiser with bathroom, interior cabin, exterior bow and stern passenger decks and a 20 passenger capacity. The charter fee for the 2.5 hour sunset cruise is $4,500 MN (Moneda Nacional = pesos).
|
38' Ocean Cruiser: Banana is also a fully equiped cruiser with bathroom, interior cabin, exterior bow and stern passenger decks and a 16 passenger capacity. Banana will be available January 2007. The 2.5 hour sunset cruise price is TBD for Banana.
|
25' Pangas: for those of you that are unfamiliar with pangas they are open boats with bimini sunshades and outboard motors. The boats are very seaworthy and have a capacity of 8 passengers for cruising. The boat charter fee for the 2.5 hour sunset cruise is $1,500 MN.

Sunset Cruise: 2.5 Hours
No matter which boat you choose for your Sunset Cruise tour you will travel out of the channel that passes between Laguna Navidad and Bahia Navidad separating Isla Navidad from Barra de Navidad. Once we exit the channel and enter the bay we head out to sea following the shore line of Isla Navidad in order to put ourselves into a good perspective for the Puesto del Sol (Sunset). Then as the sun sinks slowly into the western horizon We cut across the mouth of Bahia de Navidad towards Lampoya and the large house perched on the cliffs above Tamarindo Resort..
On the return journey to Barra de Navidad as twlight deepens to darkness we follow the shoreline of Bahia Navidad passing the twinkling lights of Melaque, San Patricio, Villa Obregon and finally Barra de Navidad, the malecon and Grand Bay Hotel on Isla Navidad. Truely a spectacular way to close the day.
The tour price includes three small beers or soft drinks per person and bottled water. Other refreshments are additional but we can happily arrange for anything from more cold beer and some potato chips to champagne and caviar. Let us know your preference, we've even arranged full romantic sunset dinners at sea. Just ask us.
