Where can I exchange foreign cash or traveller's cheques?
It's always a good idea to have some cash or traveller's cheques with you, just in case the ATMs go down or your card does not work. You can change your Canadian, or US dollar, or Euro traveller's cheques, and cash at one of the Casas de Cambio in Melaque or Barra. A recent visitor from the UK found it impossible to exchange Pounds in the area so if you are coming from the UK you'd best bring either US dollars or Euros.
You will need a valid passport or other government issued ID to change traveller's cheques. The banks in Melaque and Cihuatlan will not change foreign cash or traveller's cheques unless you have an account with them.
